News Notes

Sorry it's been so long since I have added to the blog.
The weekends are usually crazy busy for us. We have been living back and forth between the cabana and our tree house because of the extremely hot weather. The cabana has an air conditioner so we have been there for a little over a week. Our air conditioner finally came in a couple of days ago. It's a floor unit as we don't have any windows for a window unit. The one window we can use to vent the floor unit has to be framed in and a piece of plexiglass with a vent hole cut in added before we can use it. Thankfully it has cooled off here. We had a huge rain storm come in 3 days ago and the temp dropped from the 90's to the 80's. That makes a huge difference when you are in an area with very high humidity. Now that we are back in the tree house Craig has started on installing the air conditioner. What a difference this will make. Can't wait. We also got our car back after 6 weeks in the shop. It cost us $1,500 Belize, $750.00 US. That's the risk you take when you buy a used car I guess. But, at least we have the car back.

We had a very unusual service on Sunday. All of the men were gone to a District Conference on Sunday, so we geared the service to the children. We planned to teach about creation this Sunday and were able to find a great animated video on YouTube to show the kids. This is a real treat for these kids who live in the jungle. To our surprise the mothers and grandmothers enjoyed the 15 minute video much more than the kids did. It was so fun to hear them laughing out loud throughout the video. Having a chance to see entertainment like that is even more rare for the adults than it is for the kids. We may have to do that again sometime.

Another great thing about Sunday is that we had 19 children!  We began with 4 children so this is so exciting! Six of our regular kids were gone because their parents had meetings in another city so we would have had 25 kids. The Lord has shown Dwayne Abernathy, the pastor of this church and missionary of the Southern end of Belize, that a great revival is coming to this country through the children. Fifty percent of the population of Belize is under 18 year old. We are so thankful to be a part of this.

Our son, Brandon, was able to take his iPad to church Sunday night and let us chat with several of the people after the prayer service. For some reason our audio wasn't working on our iPad, so we had to use our cell phone for the audio and the iPad for the visual. I sure hope we get that fixed soon because both our boys FaceTime with us on Monday nights and its Very expensive for us to have to use our phones for the audio.
If any of you would like to talk to us in person, just use Messenger. We would love and see and hear from you.

Here are some prayer requests. Craig and Dwayne both teach and minister to the pastors and preachers  here. Some of these men and their congregations live in very remote areas and are very isolated. This of course is lonely and can cause discouragement and depression. Please pray that Dwayne and Craig have wisdom to minister to these precious men and women. Also, Linda and I are ministering to and teaching the women in leadership here. We need wisdom from God to do this as there is a serious need for teaching.

Thank you dear friends,
Carolyn
